Communication for Development Foundation Uganda (CDFU) is a non-governmental organization that provides Development Communication services aimed at influencing positive behaviors for the social development of men, women and children. CDFU designs and implements high quality SBCC programmes focusing mainly on health and development: reproductive health (including family planning); HIV & AIDS (including TB, VMMC, HTC, eMTCT); malaria; nutrition, financial literacy and Gender-based Violence (GBV). CDFU operates a Toll-free Hotline Call center (0800200600) that provides reliable information, counselling and referral services from Monday to Saturday (8:00 am – 11:00 pm) and Sundays (04:00 pm – 11:00 pm). All information shared is kept confidential.   

CDFU wishes to engage qualified, competent and highly motivated Ugandans as interns and volunteers to join the Call center team after a one-month training.

Opportunity: Intern & Volunteer opportunities (08 positions)

Reports to: Call Center Manager

Commitment: Full time; Location/ Duty stations: Kampala

Summary: The interns/volunteers will support the Call Center to respond to clients’ calls.   The interns/volunteers will also provide support to program activities including health education as well as documenting and sharing success stories. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Health, Social Sciences, Communication or related field. University students in their 3rd year of study can also apply. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a team player. Demonstrate good interpersonal communication, presentation and writing skills; computer skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.  

(Note: Must be either a resident of greater Kampala, or has a place to stay in those areas. Ability to speak and understand any of the following local language is a must. Languages include Ateso, Acholi, Arabic, Lebthur, Lugbara, Lugisu, Lango, Luganda, Nga’Karimojong, Kumam, Pokot, Runyakole/Rukiga; Runyoro -Rotoro and Rukonzo)
